Need to get somewhere?
Don’t have a car, gas is too expensive, hate finding parking spots or maybe you just don’t feel like driving? Whatever the reason, public transportation is a great option. It will shrink your ecological footprint and your carbon footprint, but not your wallet.
Getting Around
- Redbird Ride provides transportation on and around campus
- Bloomington Normal Public Transit System Did you know that with your ISU id card you can ride the buses for free?
- Carpooling to work is a great option. You can save gas and reduce the wear and tear on your car. Use ISU's electronic rideshare board to find others looking to carpool.
- Bicycling is a great option on campus and around Bloomington-Normal. Just be sure and use the bike racks on campus when you park your bike. For a map of bike racks on campus click here.
Getting Away
- At the Braden Box Office you can buy tickets for Peoria Charter and Burlington Trailways. On these bus lines you can explore a number of Illinois towns. You can even get a ride to Midway or O’Hare airports in Chicago or visit Indianapolis!
- The Amtrak Train Station is conveniently located in uptown normal, a few minutes away from campus. Several trains run from Chicago to St. Louis daily.
