Getting Around

Need to get somewhere?

Don’t have a car, gas is too expensive, hate finding parking spots or maybe you just don’t feel like driving?  Whatever the reason, public transportation is a great option. It will shrink your ecological footprint  and your carbon footprint, but not your wallet.

Getting Around

  • Redbird Ride provides transportation on and around campus
  • Bloomington Normal Public Transit System Did you know that with your ISU id card you can ride the buses for free?
  • Carpooling to work is a great option. You can save gas and reduce the wear and tear on your car. Use ISU's electronic rideshare board to find others looking to carpool.
  • Bicycling is a great option on campus and around Bloomington-Normal. Just be sure and use the bike racks on campus when you park your bike. For a map of bike racks on campus click here.

Getting Away

  • At the Braden Box Office you can buy tickets for Peoria Charter and Burlington Trailways.  On these bus lines you can explore a number of Illinois towns.  You can even get a ride to Midway or O’Hare airports in Chicago or visit Indianapolis!
  • The Amtrak Train Station is conveniently located in uptown normal, a few minutes away from campus.  Several trains run from Chicago to St. Louis daily.
