Get Involved in the Community
Want to connect with groups in the Bloomington/Normal area? Check out the organizations below. There are always volunteer opportunities and it’s a great way to meet new people.
- Children and Elders Forest is “planting groves of indigenous trees to celebrate the bonds between generations and to improve the quality of life”.
- Ecology Action Center Just a few minutes walk from campus, the Ecology Action Center’s mission is to “promote environmental stewardship in McLean County by educating people about the environment and coordinating communications among environmental groups.”
- Friends of Kickapoo Creek FoKC – Kickapoo Creek is a watershed in McLean County southeast of Bloomington Normal. Friends of Kickapoo Creek work with neighboring communities, not-for-profit organizations and individuals to preserve the watershed.
- Friends of the Constitution Trail work to beautify the recreational trail that runs throughout the Bloomington Normal community and through the ISU campus.
- John Wesley Powell Audubon If you are interested in birding and ecosystem conservation, check out John Wesley Powell Audubon. It is a chapter of the National Audubon Society and an affiliate of the Illinois Audubon.
