Get Involved in the Community

Want to connect with groups in the Bloomington/Normal area?  Check out the organizations below.  There are always volunteer opportunities and it’s a great way to meet new people.

  • Children and Elders Forest is “planting groves of indigenous trees to celebrate the bonds between generations and to improve the quality of life”.
  • Ecology Action Center Just a few minutes walk from campus, the Ecology Action Center’s mission is to “promote environmental stewardship in McLean County by educating people about the environment and coordinating communications among environmental groups.”
  • Friends of Kickapoo Creek FoKC – Kickapoo Creek is a watershed in McLean County southeast of Bloomington Normal.  Friends of Kickapoo Creek work with neighboring communities, not-for-profit organizations and individuals to preserve the watershed.
  • Friends of the Constitution Trail work to beautify the  recreational trail that runs throughout the Bloomington Normal community and through the ISU campus.
  • John Wesley Powell Audubon If you are interested in birding and ecosystem conservation, check out John Wesley Powell Audubon.  It is a chapter of the National Audubon Society and an affiliate of the Illinois Audubon.
