Recycle the Quad! - More and more students are frustrated that recycling is not available on site at off campus apartments. This semester a group of students have gotten together and are working to find a solution. In an effort to raise awareness about the issue and create a visual impact, these students will be collecting recyclables from off campus apartments over the weekend. What they collect will be on display on the Quad – and later recycled.
Wednesday April 22nd - EARTH DAY
Thursday April 23rd
Reduce your Carbon Footprint Day! - There are so many things that individuals can do to reduce our carbon footprints and every little thing helps. So pledge to do at least one thing differently today. If you normally drive to campus, try biking or walking if you live close enough. Or you could use the new electronic rideshare board on the Parking and Transportation website and find someone to carpool with. Instead of turning on the TV when you get home, get lost in a good book. Your action can be as simple as remembering to unplug your cell phone charger when it’s not in use.
Frontline/PBS documentary HEAT will be shown at 7pm in Capen Auditorium.
Melting glaciers, rising sea levels, fires, floods and droughts. On the eve of a historic election, award-winning producer and correspondent Martin Smith investigates how the world's largest corporations and governments are responding to Earth's looming environmental disaster.
"I have reported on the Cold War, the breakup of the Soviet Union, the rise of Al Qaeda, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan," says Smith. "But nothing matches climate change in scope and severity." www. pbs.org
